IMPORTANT: Haudenosaunee Chiefs and Clan Mothers have pulled from the event tomorrow at Fort George after their speaking time was reduced from 2 hours to 3 minutes - just days before the event. This is disgraceful and an affront to our Haudenosaunee friends. We encourage members to boycott and/or protest these events in response. Haudenosaunee Warriors played an extremely vital role in the War of 1812 and any attempt to commemorate it without their presence is a sham corporate event meant simply to attract tourists.
Friends of Kanonhstaton are encouraging members, and members of the public, to attend the Official Opening Ceremonies commemorating the bi-centential of the War of 1812 this Saturday at Queenston Heights. Haudenosaunee Chiefs and Clan Mothers will be opening the ceremonies with a delegation and this event is absolutely crucial in providing the historical context necessary to understanding the War of 1812 and the role of Haudenosaunee warriors. The delegation will be speaking from 11am-1pm at Fort George in Niagara on the Lake. You can find more info about the event at the link below.

The Live Free Collective (Friends of Kanonhstaton) and CUPE 4207 stand in solidarity with Haudenosaunee land defender, grandmother, and April 28th coalition member Francine “Flower” Doxtator. Flower is a friend and inspiration and we denounce the repression and criminalization of land defenders. Francine’s charges stem from the trespass of white rights activist and bigot Gary McHale and we call on non-native allies to live up to their side of the Guswenta (Two Row Wampum) and confront the racist, neo-colonial members of our community - be they individuals, politicians, bureaucrats or organizations. The status quo will not be tolerated. IN SOLIDARITY WITH ALL THOSE WHO DEFEND THE EARTH!
